Here are a few ideas…

Join Covenant House in Germantown this evening, Thursday, November 15, for their Annual Candlelight Vigil to remember young people who have lost their lives on the streets.  The Candlelight Vigil starts at 6pm and is followed by Covenant House’s first Sleep Out.  Covenant House is located at 31 E. Participate in the 20th Annual Turkey Trot to benefit Face to Face on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012.  Face to Face is a human services organization which provides free meals, nurse- managed healthcare, legal and social services, computer training, creative arts studios, and children’s after school and summer programming. Focusing on the power of human connection, Face to Face creates encounters of hospitality, mutuality, and transformation in the Germantown Community and beyond.  Visit to learn more.

Drop off items at a local Thrift Store.  The Whosoever Gospel Mission Thrift Shop accepts the following gently used items in good condition for drop off at the Lighthouse Thrift Shop and the Germantown Thrift Shop between 9:45 am – 4:00 pm, Monday to Saturday:

  • Men’s, Women’s and Children’s Clothing, Shoes & Accessories
  • House wares, Linens, Bric-a-brac, Jewelry, Toys & Kid’s Books
  • CDs, DVDs, Records, VHS and Cassette Tapes
