Black History Month Tea at Awbury

Join Awbury Arboretum tomorrow, Saturday, February 25th from 3:00-5:00pm for a guest lecture and tea. Gina Thomas, Assistant Counsel in the Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Southeast Regional Office, and Deborah Fries, also of the DEP, will speak on the history of African American Environmentalism. In partnership with the Girl Scouts and the national Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program, this tea is aimed at engaging Girl Scout troops with Awbury’s landscape as a resource for environmental science education.

The event includes a tour of the arboretum grounds, highlighting the pond and Secret Garden. Gourmet tea will be provided and served by Tea Country, along with a brief expert brewing demonstration. Light refreshments will be served as well.
