Pruning Class at Grumblethorpe

January 12, 2012

Ever thought about growing your own fruit trees?  Already begun to build a backyard orchard? Then come out to the historic gardens at Grumblethorpe on Saturday January 28th from 1 – 3 pm and Learn to Prune for a Plentiful Harvest! This workshop, led by Philadelphia Orchard Project Director Phil Forsythe, will teach correct pruning for maximum health and production of your fruit trees and berry bushes. The Philadelphia Orchard Project, founded in 2007, looks to plant orchards in the city of Philadelphia that grow healthy food, green spaces and community food security.

Dress warmly! A good portion of the class will be held outdoors. Additionally, participants are asked to bring their pruners if they have them. Space for the workshop is limited to 20 people and the cost is a minimum $10 donation. Visit http://www.phillyorchards.org/ to RSVP. For any additional information about the workshop contact Heather Zimmerman at 215.837.6096 or heatherzimmer@comcast.net.
