Lunch & Learn at Wyck

October 19, 2011

Looking for something to do during your lunch hour? Come to Wyck’s Lunch and Learn on Friday October 28th. The program, beginning at noon, will focus a receipt book, or cookbook, belonging to Hannah Marshall Haines (1768 – 1825). Hannah was one of many generations of the Haines and Wistar families to live at Wyck. Daughter to a wealthy Philadelphia merchant, Hannah married Caspar Wistar and came to live at Wyck in the 1790s.

The program, led by foodways historian Susuan McLellan Plaisted, will include discussion of several receipts and their preparation. Susan will also bring samples she has prepared for tasting!

This is a FREE hour-long program. Participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch. For additional information, please contact Bekka Shultz at rschultz@wyck.org.
