William Penn Charter Day of Service in Historic Germantown

October 12, 2011

This past Friday students from William Penn Charter School visited 5 sites in Historic Germantown during their annual Day of Service. In its 13th year, the Day of Service sends out over 500 students to sites in the Philadelphia area.

This year the students helped with projects at Grumblethorpe, the Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion, the Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse, the Johnson House and Wyck. In groups ranging from 9 to 13 students, they worked in the gardens at Grumblethorpe, raked leaves at the Johnson House, weeded at the Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse and transplanted a large patch of Butterfly Weeds at Wyck.

Our sites were very excited and thankful to have the help of these fantastic students!!!
