Gearing up for Battle!

August 21, 2011

Pack your haversack, grab your ammunition, and get ready for the march to Germantown! On October 1st, Historic Germantown will be commemorating the Battle of Germantown with a day-long festival and battle reenactment.

Last year, the festival activities included events at Cliveden, Historic Rittenhousetown, The Germantown White House, Upsala, Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse, The Johnson House, Wyck, and Grumblethorpe. This year will be no smaller scale, with activities at all sites including live music, children’s games and puppets and the loud smoky reenactment itself.  All events from 10AM-4PM are free and open to the public. End your day at Grumblethorpe’s Oktoberfest from 4-7:30PM. Enjoy German food and beer for a small fee, listen to music, and tour the house and gardens. Everything that you’ve come to love from our past festivals you will see at the Revolutionary Germantown Festival on October 1!

If you want to stay updated on the Battle of Germantown in both 2011 and 1777, follow @RevGTownFest on Twitter! Their twitter will give both historical information about the Battle and the most up to date information on the Festival on October 1.

Also, like them on Facebook to see photos, connect with other fans, and enter into the raffle! They will have a raffle after their first 100 likes for a special Historic Germantown Prize Pack

Although a month away may seem like a lifetime, it is as good a time as any to get ready for the Battle of Germantown. See you there!
